Valor Summer Conservatory
In the summer of 2008, Camp Joy will host an exciting new type of camp. Under the leadership of Dr. Stan Eby and Mr. Duane Ream, Valor Summer Conservatory will run alongside the normal camp schedule for the full summer. This nine-week program is dedicated to developing both technical proficiency and Scriptural philosophy in college musicians. Many of the young people who study music in college spend their summers away from the discipline and motivation of school and they lose ground over those months. VSC will provide professional instruction in each student’s field of study (piano, strings, or voice) and will train each student in a Scripturally sound philosophy of music. In addition to the training and teaching, the VSC campers will enjoy many of the activities and opportunities of a summer at Camp Joy, including games, hikes, lakefront, and most importantly, constant exposure to the Word of God in daily devotions and chapel services. VSC students will have opportunities throughout the summer to put their talents to use by playing special music in nearby local churches and in the camp chapel services.
