Camp Joy's Policy Statement
The following policies and/or procedures have been established to let both the camp and the participating groups understand their various responsibilities and requirements.
Christian Conduct: As a Christian organization, Camp Joy maintains high standards of conduct and separation from the world and apostasy. Separate swimming periods are scheduled for the boys and girls. Campers who use tobacco or drugs at camp will be sent home. All non-cooperative or non-compliant campers are subject to immediate dismissal.
Only music that is exalting to the Lord is to be included in the camp programs. Rock, contemporary, religious folk music, and a host of other types that are presented today as "Christian " music are not acceptable. The camp director will be the final authority in deciding which music will be appropriate and acceptable.
Use of the Camp: The utilization of the camp includes the facility, the staff, and the camp-provided program. The facility is not for rent, only the program and staff to operate it. The snackshop and bookstore are a convenience to campers and are not open on Sundays.
Appropriate Dress: Knee-length dresses or skirts should be brought by girls and ladies for the services. Slits in the skirts should not be higher than the knee. Loose-fitting slacks or knee-length culottes may be worn except when otherwise indicated. Boys and men should bring collared shirts and slacks for the services.
Do Not Bring: Tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs, radios, tape players, video games, TV's, magazines, shorts, short skirts, tight slacks, tank tops, or T-shirts with worldly advertising.
Arrival/Departure: Campers are expected to stay the entire camp period except for illness or an emergency at home. Parents are asked not to visit their child at camp. Campers are not permitted to use the camp phone except in the case of an emergency.
Care of Property: Campers are financially responsible for any damage to the property caused by misconduct or irresponsible behavior. Each group is expected to leave the buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly condition.
The Local Church: The ministry of the camp is not aside from the work of the local church. It is rather an extension of that ministry as the camp works to reinforce and supplement the ministry of the churches, their Christian schools, and their associated ministries and organizations.
Camp Management: The direction, goals, and standards for the camp are established by the board of the camp and are implemented by the camp director and his staff. The camp director is the final authority in matters that affect the camp, its policies and its operation. He has complete authority to insist that camp standards and rules are maintained.
